Are you studying or pursuing a PhD at UniGe?
You can use the PC to Go service: just as easily as borrowing a book, you can borrow a laptop from the library service desks.
The loan can be:
- daily: you borrow a laptop for one day and must return it before the library closes. The laptop is provided with a 'student' account, and all data is deleted at the end of the day
- long term: you borrow a laptop for an extended period, up to 4 months (renewable). The laptop is fully entrusted to you, you are responsible for it until it is returned.
Registering for PC to Go
You must register for the service. Read the regulations (PDF, 130 KB) and go to a service desk with the following:
- the completed form, that you can download here or find at a desk;
- copy of your ID.
Instructions for use
We recommend connecting the laptop to the internet before leaving the library, to ensure everything works properly. On campus, use the Eduroam network with your UniGePASS credentials (the same ones used for the Student Portal).
If you have never used Eduroam, or if your credentials don’t work, perform a password change. If you don’t remember your password, use UniGePASS Password Reset.
To login use your Microsoft 365 UniGe credentials (the same ones used for MS Teams and other Microsoft 365 academic apps). To verify your username or register, follow the instructions in the Microsoft 365 section.
Your username is always your university email in the format:
S+student ID number@studenti.unige.it
Example: S1234567@studenti.unige.it
The password is set during registration. If you forget it, you can recover it through Microsoft's credential management service.
The pre-installed software package should meet most needs. If you require additional software, you can install applications provided by UniGe via two portals (already connected to your user account after login):
- Company portal (recommended)
Already installed; accessible from the Windows search bar or the app list. In the 'Apps' section, you’ll find University-provided software - Microsoft Store
accessible by typing 'store' in the Windows search bar. No user authentication in the app is required.
If you cannot find the application you need, you can request its installation using the form Richiesta installazione software PcToGo – Fill out form. A technician will contact you by email or phone.
